"My 13-year-old son joined Mr. Geary's LifeReady STEM class hoping to build some RC planes. Neither of us knew just how much he would be learning about the principles of flight. My son has really enjoyed getting to know Mr. Geary and the other kids in his class through the weekly meetings. It's been a joy to watch my son learning how to build RC planes from kits and scratch, and to apply what he's learning from this class to other things that he is doing in his workshop, including his plans for a future ultralight build. Peter has been a great source of Godly encouragement and it's clear that many of his students really enjoy the weekly online class meetups for the social aspect. We went from thinking this class would be about RC planes to my son now aspiring to be a pilot. I highly recommend this LifeReady STEM course for kids who are mostly capable of building their own planes as they will grow in confidence and gain the skills to do more complicated builds and to fly their creations as the course progresses. My son had no experience with RC planes before this class and now he crafts scratch builds in his free time. We are looking forward to working with Mr. Geary again next year!
My 10-year old son has really enjoyed LifeReady STEM this year. It is well-organized so that he is learning and building his planes according to step-by-step instructions spaced out over several months. Weekly class calls challenge him to practice what he has learned in games and activities. The structure of the course allows him to work independently while learning to follow directions, how to build something that will fly, and what repairs can be done when an aircraft is damaged. Participating in LifeReady STEM has been a delightful part of his school year!

Watch & Build
Starting the last weekend in August, your student follows the weekly lessons, joins the live calls, and builds alongside other young aviators — six aircraft across two semesters.
Fly
Powered flight starts week 2. Your student watches science come alive, and more often than not, catches a vision for where aviation and engineering could take them.

ABOUT YOUR TEACHER
Hey, I'm Peter.
I'm a homeschool dad of three and a long-time science and aviation enthusiast. I started LifeReady STEM because I realized that building and flying "hobby" airplanes offered enormous potential for bringing science to life for my kids.
Two years and dozens of students later, I've watched students go from almost no hands-on STEM or airplane experience, to scratch-building their own powered flying aircraft for fun.
More than that, they are catching a vision for what's possible for their future, and being equipped with skills and knowledge to get there.

FAQ
Questions parents ask.
How old does my child need to be?
Students are able to be more independent starting in middle school, and many middle and high schoolers take what they learn and run with it! I have had students as young as 7 who love the class, but they need significant parental involvement to safely and successfully do that hands-on portions.
Is this a Christian program?
The focus on this class is the science (it is not a bible study). However, this class is taught through a biblical worldview, and I do reference scripture! If this class has a theme verse, it would be Proverbs 25:2: It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, But the glory of kings is to search out a matter.
My student has never built anything before. Can he/she do this?
Yes - no experience is required for this class. The first build is a foam glider students can typically build in an hour (depending on how elaborate they choose to decorate it!) By week 2, students are flying basic flights with a powered RC plane. We build from there!
My daughter might be interested. Do you have girls in the class?
Yes - Some of our most enthusiastic students are girls!
